Podcast COMING SOON!

Last night, My friend and I talked for hours. We picked each others brains and sorted through our thoughts as we picked up her house and sorted through her stuff. The physical cleaning was just as therapeutic as the mental cleaning we were doing. It gave birth to an idea that we believe is something we desperately need.
There we were just sitting outside, sipping on some “organic” wine and talking about life and love and politics. We were talking about our passions and our desire to change the world and connect people with themselves and others. We discovered we both want to understand people that are different from us. Where other people fear the unknown, we were passionately intrigued. The more we learned, the more we understood, the more we had to love and teach. We started brainstorming about how to reach and connect with other people on this level. We both have social anxieties that make socializing in real life difficult and taking videos of ourselves was still very awkward. My attempt at a makeup tutorial video was proof enough that was out of the question. My friend suggested a podcast as a happy medium.
We want to get a weekly hour long podcast started. My recent Facebook post about sanitary options for women opened my eyes to how badly women want AND NEED to talk openly about some things. Menstruation and breastfeeding were among the discussed topics on my thread. I’m not sure when or how the two most natural things for a women to experience, the reproductive cycle and nourishing a child with their body, became taboo to discuss. I won’t even speculate as to why, but I do know its time to change it. We hope to open a discussion among women (and men) about our bodies, minds, and struggles. We want to be a platform for people to find answers and support. Our goal is that every week I will touch on a topic with my blog and every weekend we will discuss it on our podcast based on your comments and feedback. We are calling it "The Ovary Act."
This felt like a great start to something, but it didn’t seem like enough for us. As the conversation grew, we realized we would need more than an hour every week to cover the topics we wanted to. We also figured out we were pretty awful at staying on one designated topic for very long. Hence, our monthly no time limit call-in podcast was born - Vaginal Discharge. We wanted something vulgar and representative of how absurd it is to be whispering about topics like menstruation and breastfeeding. Vaginal Discharge is going to symbolize the once a month we are most woman. We hope that vaginal discharge will be an outlet and platform for women who feel unheard or misunderstood. The topics we only feel comfortable talking about behind closed doors, if at all, will be our main focus. It’s time we talked freely and came together to educate one another in the areas we are most curious. No topic will be off limits.
****This will be a learning process. We’re both unfamiliar with podcasts and blogging. I hope we can make a difference for some of you. Whatever age, we hope to answer your questions and/or connect you with other individuals that think like you and share similar experiences. Please be patient with us as we get this up and running. There will inevitably be some kinks to work out as we make this a reality. We look forward to hearing from you all on a variety of subjects. Thank you all for your encouragement and support on these more difficult topics.
